Day by day

Day 1 : Santa Cruz Island: Highlands & Fausto Llerena Breeding Center

In the morning: Arrival at Baltra Airport

Fly from Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra, Galapagos Islands. After handling immigration and baggage, a Cormorant II staff member will greet you and take you to a private bus for your Galapagos adventure. Prepare for your first excursion before boarding the cruise, wearing comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, sunblock, sunglasses, and with a camera ready.

In the afternoon: Santa Cruz Highlands

Travel by bus from Puerto Ayora to explore the lush Santa Cruz Highlands, contrasting with the drier lowlands. Admire the Scalesia trees and walk through intriguing lava tunnels. Lunch will be served during this excursion.

Afterwards: Fausto Llerena Breeding Center

Visit the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center in Puerto Ayora to see giant tortoises of various sizes. Observe the larger tortoises posing for photos and the younger ones growing strong.

Day 2 : Isabela Island: Tintoreras Islet, Sierra Negra Volcano, Wetlands & Arnaldo Tupiza Breeding Center

In the morning: Tintoreras Islet

Explore Tintoreras Islet near Puerto Villamil, a wildlife haven with clear turquoise waters hosting white-tip reef sharks, Galapagos penguins, sea turtles, and sea lions. This area is also a key site for marine iguana reproduction.

Afterwards: Sierra Negra Volcano

Discover the Sierra Negra Volcano, known for having the largest basaltic caldera in the Galapagos at 10 km wide. Enjoy stunning views and spot up to seven species of finches. The north side displays recent volcanic activity from 2005.

In the afternoon: Isabela Wetlands

Visit the Isabela Wetlands near Puerto Villamil, where lagoons, mangroves, and swamps are home to bird species like common stilts, white-cheeked pintails, and whimbrels. Explore the area on foot via a path through the swamps.

Afterwards: Arnaldo Tupiza Breeding Center

Tour the Arnaldo Tupiza Breeding Center, located 1.5 km from Puerto Villamil, housing tortoises bred from different regions of Isabela Island. See around 330 juvenile and adult tortoises.
